Leg Tightness
Possible Causes
Leg tightness often builds when muscles are working hard, recovering from increased activity or repeatedly moving in the same way.
Running, cycling, strength training, walking and physically demanding work can all contribute. Long periods sitting can play a part too, while limited mobility or tension through the hips and glutes may affect how freely the muscles throughout your legs are able to move.
What it Feels Like
Symptoms of Leg Tightness
Tight, heavy or tired legs that don’t seem to loosen up properly, even after warming up.
Restricted movement or flexibility through the hamstrings, quads or calves during training and everyday activities.
Muscles that stay tense after exercise, leaving your legs feeling stiff or slow to recover between sessions.
How I Can Help
Treating Leg Tightness
Treatment can target the areas that feel particularly tight while also looking at how the muscles throughout your legs are working together.
Sports massage and targeted soft tissue work can help reduce tension through the hamstrings, quads and calves, support comfortable movement and aid recovery. Treatment can also include the hips and glutes where tightness there may be contributing.
